This painting is from a photo I found in a magazine years ago. Does anyone know what kind of flower it is? Its' structure is so beautiful and I love the contrast of yellow against its' complimentary color, violet.

This is a close up of a close up. The painting is about twice as large. I just love this detail as it becomes a better composition than the original.

I am obviously inspired by Georgia O'Keefe. More than that, though, I love ultra close up views of subject matter. I will take my camera and focus right down into one to three inches of an object. Then I will do a large painting of the tiny space. If you get in close enough, it becomes abstract, emphasizing on color, texture and form.

Teracotta Hollyhocks

Using a limited pallet enables you to create a composition that "holds together". The color scheme is complimentary ie. red is across the color wheel from green. Complimentary colors always work well together.

Today, I start this blog

My art is shown on several sites and it is time to put it all in one place. It will be good to share with my students, my friends and associates my various styles and thoughts about art. My Heavenly Father has blessed me with a love for color and design and a way to express it through painting. I pray that in the future, He will guide me in ways to use my art to His glory and as a means to be a good steward.
